Clovis Concrete Crew pours and repairs concrete in Friant, the small river community about 11 miles north of Clovis at the base of Friant Dam and Millerton Lake.

Friant at a Glance
- Unincorporated census-designated place in Fresno County
- 446 residents at the 2020 census
- Sits along the banks of the San Joaquin River at about 344 feet
- Went by several names over the years: Converse Ferry, Jones Ferry, Hamptonville, and Pollasky, before being renamed for lumber executive Thomas Friant in the 1920s
That Pollasky name ties Friant to Clovis. The same San Joaquin Valley Railroad that created Clovis Station ran its line out to this spot on the river in 1891.
What Lake-Country Properties Need
Friant properties are spread out, and a lot of them have a boat, a trailer, or a work truck that needs a solid place to park. The concrete we pour most often out here includes:
- RV and boat pads sized for a trailer and the truck that tows it
- Long driveways and turnarounds on larger parcels
- Patios and walkways that hold up to river-area summers
- Slabs for shops, sheds, and carports
Building on River Ground
Land near the river can be very different from the hardpan common around Clovis. Sandy or loose soil needs to be dug out and replaced with compacted Class II aggregate base so a heavy pad doesn't settle under a loaded trailer. We look at the ground on every Friant estimate and set base depth and slab thickness from what we find, not from a standard number.
Permits Through Fresno County
Friant is unincorporated, so any permit for work near a county road goes through Fresno County rather than a city. We check what your parcel needs before we schedule.
