Concrete Repair in Clovis, CA

Clovis Concrete Crew repairs cracked, sunken, and worn concrete across Clovis: driveways, patios, walkways, and pool decks. Not every crack means a new slab. The right concrete repair depends on what's wrong, so we start by figuring out the cause, then recommend one method, not a bundle.

Concrete Repair in Clovis, CA

What Damages Concrete in Clovis

  • Heat and sun: slabs expand and contract with big daily temperature swings in summer, and sealers break down in strong UV
  • Fast drying when it was poured: afternoon summer pours often leave fine surface cracks and a weak, dusty top
  • Water sitting on hardpan: irrigation and runoff can perch on the cemented layer under many Clovis yards and soften the soil a slab rests on
  • Thin slabs and missing steel: common in older work
  • Heavy loads: trucks, trailers, and RVs on concrete built only for cars

Our Repair Methods

Each of these is a separate job. We recommend the one that fits the damage.

  1. Crack sealing

For cracks that haven't moved much in height. We route the crack with a grinder to a clean, even width, vacuum it out, and fill it with a flexible polyurethane or self-leveling sealant in a matching gray. It keeps water and dirt out and stops the crack from spreading at the surface. It doesn't make the crack disappear.

  2. Panel replacement

For sections that are broken into pieces, badly sunken, or heaved. We saw-cut the damaged panel out along the control joints, break it out, haul it away, rework and compact the base, drill and epoxy dowels into the neighboring slabs, and pour a new panel. The new concrete will be lighter at first and weathers closer over time.

  3. Slab leveling

For panels that have settled but are still in one piece. Holes are drilled through the slab and material is pumped underneath to lift it back to level, either a cement grout (mudjacking) or a polyurethane foam. It's quick and much cheaper than replacement when the slab itself is sound.

  4. Surface repair

For spalled, flaking, or pitted surfaces where the slab is otherwise solid. We grind away loose material and apply a polymer-modified patch or a full resurfacing overlay. See resurfacing and sealing.

Repair or Replace?

Repair usually makes sense when the damage is limited to a few cracks or panels and the base underneath is sound. Replacement usually makes more sense when:

  • Cracks run through most of the slab
  • Many panels have sunk or lifted
  • The slab is too thin for how it's used
  • Leveling would only be a short-term fix because the base has failed

If replacement is the answer, see concrete driveways or removal and haul-away.

Pool Deck Repair

Pool decks have one repair that matters more than any other: the expansion joint at the coping. When that joint fails or was filled with hard material, the deck can push against the coping. We cut out the old material and install a new flexible joint with UV-resistant sealant. See pool decks for more.

Repairs in the Public Right-of-Way

If the damaged concrete is the sidewalk or the driveway approach between your property and the street, the repair is in the City's right-of-way. In Clovis that requires an encroachment permit, and the finished work has to meet City standard specifications. We handle the permit for you.

Questions

Common Questions

Will a repaired crack match the rest of the concrete?

Not exactly. We use a gray sealant close to the slab color, but repairs stay visible. A resurfacing overlay is the way to get a uniform look.

How long does slab leveling last?

When the soil under the slab is stable, a leveled slab can stay put for years. If water keeps washing out the base, we fix the drainage too or recommend replacement.

Can you fix just one section of my driveway?

Yes. Panel replacement is designed for exactly that.

Is it worth sealing small hairline cracks?

Hairline surface cracks are usually cosmetic. Sealing them is optional. Cracks wider than about 1/8 inch are worth sealing to keep water out.
