Del Rey, CA in Clovis, CA

Del Rey's Story

The town was first called Clifton, after founder Clift Wilkinson. In 1898 the railroad renamed it Del Rey, Spanish for "of the king," after the Rancho del Rey where the station stood. Its post office dates to 1885. Del Rey is an unincorporated census-designated place with 1,358 residents (2020 census) on about 1.3 square miles.

Small Town, Practical Jobs

Del Rey is surrounded by farmland, and the work we do here tends to be straightforward and useful:

  • Replacing a cracked or sunken driveway
  • Pouring a pad for a shed, carport, or equipment
  • Front walks and steps that are safe to use again
  • A patio slab for shade and summer evenings outside

How We Approach Older Concrete

A lot of concrete in older farm towns was poured thin, with little or no base underneath. When it breaks, the fix depends on how much of it is failing. A few cracked sections can be cut out and replaced. A slab that's broken all over is usually better removed and rebuilt properly. Our concrete repair page explains the options, and we'll tell you which one makes sense after we look.

Building It Right This Time

New slabs in Del Rey get a compacted base, the right thickness for the load, reinforcement, and control joints cut on time. We pour early on hot days so the concrete doesn't set before it's finished, then keep it moist while it cures.

Fresno County Permits

Del Rey isn't an incorporated city, so permits for work near the road go through Fresno County. We confirm what's needed before scheduling.
